Review
This is A PLAINLY WORDED, comprehensive, and authentic account of the history and lore of the Royal Aroh. lt is not only historical, but also explanatory of everything in Royal Arch Masonry that can be openly discussed.
Based on up-to-date researeh, lt has a scope wider than any other known book on the subject. The opening sections trace the growth of the ceremony until its general adoption in the eighteenth century as an accepted degree. These early sections contain much matter that will be new to all but the serious student.
Later chapters explain the effect on the fortunes of the Order of two strong Grand Lodges in opposition.
The birth of the present Supreme Grand Chapter is related, and the rise and derivation of familiar masonic terms are explained. The traditional history of the Royal Arch is fully treated in its relation to the Old Testament, and to the ancient legends, which arc generally quite unknown to the ordinary Mason. The subject of the Ineffable Name is appropriately treated.
Towards the dose of the volume it deals with the growth and development ofritual, and there are many sections on Symbolism and related subjects.
